Sarah McGovern: 'I didn't become a model to get a job as a presenter'
Model Sarah McGovern has presented a few slots on Xpose recently but admits she has no plans to move in front of the camera full-time.
The mum-of-two has styled and presented a few segments for iClothing and while she loved the experience, she revealed there's a lot more to it than modelling.
"It was an opportunity that came my way and I don't like to turn down opportunities because you don't know where they're going to lead you. I'm not trying to take over and become a presenter or a stylist, I'm just going to see where it goes," she told the Diary.
"I'm not doing modelling just to get into TV or styling, I've always just wanted to be a model.
"So it's definitely a very different angle for me, although it's kind of tough with the kids, I have to say.
"As a model you basically just turn up and put on clothes and go home - but when it comes to styling there's a lot more work involved," she added.
While she enjoys presenting, she admits it's tough to juggle it with her two children, Jude (3) and Robyn (1).
"You have to pick out the clothes and research what you're going to say about them, so there's a lot more work involved in it so I'm learning as I go and we'll see how it goes," she said.
"It's tough, I've done a couple of them so far and I'm now wondering how stylists do all this work.
"Because it's the busy time of year with fashion shows I'm only able to do them now and then.
"I really enjoyed it but I'd have to see how it goes with the kids, doing all that means needing to get the kids minded a lot more and that's proving difficult.
"Everything is a little more difficult with two kids but I think that's where I'd love to go eventually.
"Hopefully I'll have a couple more years modelling and when the kids are in school it might be easier," she added.
The blonde beauty (32) admits it can be hard to balance work and home life but the nature of her work means she still gets a good bit of time with her children.
"Our job can be all over the place - Ireland AM are really early slots, Xpose is during the day and fashion shows could be any time," she said.
"I'm always juggling everything to get my kids minded but I have to say that my family are amazing.
"I wish there was a bit more routine sometimes but then you have days off where you can spend the day at home.
"I probably get more time with the kids than if I had a nine-to-five job, so I can't really complain," she added.
