Panto star Nadia wants to follow Jedward with a shot at Eurovision

PANTO star Nadia Forde has said she would love to throw her hat into the ring and represent Ireland at this year's Eurovision.

Rekindling her singing career on the Christmas panto circuit has given Nadia (23) a fresh boost and belief in her talents.

And the Snow White star said that the next ambition is to follow in the footsteps of Jedward with a foray into the Eurovision arena.

"I'm in the panto with Niamh Kavanagh, who's obviously a Eurovision winner, and I love listening to all her amazing stories.

"It's always good to look at new challenges and I'm a massive Eurovision fan -- it looks like great fun.

"It's strange to go from absolutely no singing for five years to going straight back into it twice a day for a whole month.

"By the end of the panto run, we'll have done something like 65 shows which is just mad.

"I'm wrecked but I'm absolutely loving the whole experience. I do still get nervous before every performance but I'm nowhere near as bad as I used to be."

Nadia has been treading the boards in the Tivoli Theatre for the past fortnight as she appears in the Cheerios panto for a four-week run.

Demanding

But given the demanding nature of the show, she has been battling laryngitis since the start of the production run and had to pay several visits to the doctor in order to combat the illness.

Nadia only had three days off over the festive period -- but was sure to make the most of any free time.

The Clontarf native celebrated the start of 2013 in Dawson Street venue No 37 with a group of pals who had travelled up from Cork.

She spent the evening rubbing shoulders with fellow model Pippa O'Connor and her hubby Brian.

But it's back to business for Nadia as she continues her panto stint until January 20, after which she has vowed to take a holiday. "It's just been so mental over the past few months so as soon as I get a break at the end of the month, I'll try to book somewhere.

"I was the same last year. The only holiday I got was a few days away in Marbella and I was still doing shoots while I was over there."

The Celebrity Salon star, who admits she's "dating" at the moment but isn't in a serious relationship, also hopes to do more work in London.

One of her New Year's resolutions is to concentrate on building up her profile across the water as she meets with several different talent agencies in England.
