Katy Anna Mohan has reached the semi-finals of The Voice, and has told coach Kian Egan to stop criticising her song choices.
Singer/songwriter Katy Anna, who is mentored by Bressie, said she was trying to stick to her roots, and has no intention of changing her style.
The DCU student was the subject of an on-screen feud between Kian and Bressie last week.
Bressie came to Katy Anna's defence after Westlife singer Kian criticised her song choice, saying she would have been better off singing a Miley Cyrus number.
Katy Anna delivered a haunting performance of Sinead O'Connor's You Made Me The Thief Of Your Heart on Sunday night, but Kian felt that it wouldn't be popular among young fans of the show.
"People say to me 'You're only 19', but I am a singer/songwriter and I need to stick to what I think is best," Katy Anna said.
"Kian is entitled to his opinion, but I know what suits me.
"The Miley Cyrus pop thing just isn't me. At the end of the day, if my song choice goes wrong it will be on me," added the Drogheda native.
But that doesn't mean this girl isn't prepared to take risks.
And she'll be certainly be taking one this Sunday with her song choice – She Wolf by David Guetta.
"It is upbeat but it has a dark beat to it, I'm trying to be more versatile," said Katy Anna.
The young performer says that her choice strikes a balance between Kian's criticisms and what she wishes to do herself.
"It is more contemporary, which is what Kian wanted, but it is also something that I love and a song that I always wanted to perform."
