Damien Rice is singing in French for his former girlfriend, Inglourious Basterds star Melanie Laurent.
The Irish singer-songwriter recorded two duets with the stunning Parisian actress for her upcoming album, which he also produced with the help of Pedestrian singer-guitarist Joel Shearer.
Melanie (28), who launched her first single this month, admitted she had dated the Co Wicklow-based musician for a while, although they had now parted ways and remained the "dearest" of friends.
"There was one person in the world with whom I wanted to sing, Damien Rice," she told Elle magazine.
"I think that I was waiting for someone like him for a long time. We left each other gently. But we see each other all the time, we've become friends... I have a key to his house in Ireland and he has one to my [house] here."
Melanie's album, which will include her duets with Damien (37), will be released on May 5. She will then go on tour.
She and Damien met in iconic Woodstock, New York state, shortly after she had finished filming the Tarantino hit war film, Inglourious Basterds.
"It's a crazy story. I went to Woodstock [over two years ago] to record the album and I was unhappy with what happened there," she recalled.
"I called my manager and asked him to call Damien Rice's manager and organise something. I didn't expect him to come, but he did, and we started to work together. I fired everyone and followed him to Ireland.
"He taught me everything about being a musician. I was a huge, huge fan, so it was weird for me to just speak with him like it's natural, when I was like, 'Oh my God, I'm speaking with Damien Rice and we're creating music together'."
Damien's had a previous relationship with Meath singer-songwriter Lisa Hannigan and is also rumoured to have dated Hollywood actress Renee Zellweger.
