They're topping charts the world over, but homegrown rockers Kodaline have revealed they're lucky to even be alive as two of the members opened up about their near death experiences.

Frontman Steve Garrigan (right) revealed he narrowly avoided serious injury after being hit by a car.

"I got hit by a jeep when I was on a bike," he said.

"It was really weird - I did a front flip [on to the bonnet] and hit the windscreen and then rolled back off it.

"I landed sitting up and somehow I didn't hit my head. The doctors were like 'how did you not hit your head?'. I was very lucky."

Speaking to Andpop, bassist Jason Boland also revealed that he had a similar brush with death when he was also cycling a bike.

"I fell off the bike right between two cars," the musician said.
