'I was too happy with family life to make music,' reveals Roisin Murphy
Irish singer Roisin Murphy revealed she took almost a decade off making music because she was so "blissfully happy" with her family life.
The quirky songstress (right) is now releasing her first album in eight years and she admitted she took time out from her career because she found love with music producer Sebastiano Properzi.
The Wicklow native and the Italian have a son, Tadhg, and Roisin also has an older daughter, Clodagh, from a previous relationship.
Speaking to a Sunday newspaper, the performer said she "couldn't get over" how happy she was with her personal life.
"Part of the reason that I didn't do a record for a while is because I was just so blissfully happy, because I had met someone again and had a second child, had a chance at sort of having a family," she said.
"To have the chance at that balanced unit - two kids, mother and father in the house, kind of thing -was such a massive deal. It took a lot of time for me to get over how happy I was."
