DJ Mo-K swaps supporting Rihanna for 2fm

Who needs Rihanna and Snoop Dogg when you’ve got Larry Gogan and Rick O’Shea?

Dublin DJ Mo-K has supported some of the biggest names in the music industry, from Run DMC to Ri-Ri.

But the Killester man (31) – real name Mo Keating – is ready to focus on his broadcasting career and give hip-hop “a voice” in Ireland.

Mo-K has been presenting 2fm’s Friday night slot for the past several months.

“I feel like I’ve done all there is to do as a DJ in Ireland at this stage - I’ve opened for everyone from Chris Brown to Snoop Dogg to Run DMC,” he said.

“When I look around at the genre I’m in, I look up to the likes of Tim Westwood and Trevor Nelson, who gave urban culture a voice in the UK and there was no one really to do that in Ireland.

“I kind of said to myself it’s time to step up and be the Irish equivalent to them,” he added.

However Mo hasn’t hung up his DJing boots completely and will continue to gig as well.
