Boyzone remember Stephen on sixth anniversary of his death
Louis Walsh and Boyzone bandmates Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch and Mickey Graham have remembered Stephen Gately on the sixth anniversary of his death.
Gately died aged 33 of a congenital heart defect at the apartment he owned with his husband Andrew Cowles in Majorca, Spain, on October 9, 2009.
Keith (41) said he does something to mark Stephen's anniversary ever year.
"Usually myself and Shane hook up. We don't do anything exciting - we reminisce, play a game of pool and do a little 'cheers' to him," he said.
Speaking on the Ray D'Arcy Show, Keith said he still gets upset about his friend, who died "before his time".
"You can't tell when it is going to happen but you get waves of emotion when you lose people, especially when you lose people before their time," he said.
Shane and Mikey took to Twitter to remember their bandmate. "Today I celebrate and give thanks for the amazing time I spent with my little brother Steo. Miss ya, love ya," Shane said.
"It was about this time six years ago when I heard the terrible news. Still missing you pal," Mickey wrote online.
Ronan shared a picture of the two of them smiling with their heads out a car window.
"I have no idea what the two of us were doing but if Steo saw this pic he would p*** himself laughing. Bro you may be gone but never forgotten," he captioned the snap.
Elsewhere, their former manager Louis Walsh said Stephen was always "grateful" for his success. "Stephen was the big heartthrob. He was grateful."
