"There's nothing I like more than the sight of a sold-out Dublin concert," pop powerhouse Taylor Swift yelled to adoring fans at the start of her show last night.

"We may be in beautiful Dublin, but our story starts in New York," she told the screaming crowd as she launched into her first song, Welcome to New York.

Swift (25) flew into Dublin on a private jet and amid a swarm of security ahead of the first of two concerts at the 3Arena.

Fresh from her sensational gig at London's Hyde park, the global superstar was accompanied by her new beau, Calvin Harris.

Cheers greeted her at the venue as she came up through a trapdoor in the middle of the stage with a troop of backing dancers.

She changed outfit 10 times throughout the show, varying from black, white and red dresses to thigh-high boots and body suits.

Swift recently said she couldn't wait to return to the Emerald Isle.

"Ireland is one of my favourite places, so I am really looking forward to coming back. It's been way too long," she said.

Taylor is staying with her boyfriend in the luxurious Four Seasons Hotel in Ballsbridge, until tomorrow, before she jets to Canada for the next leg of her tour.

The new couple confirmed their romance last month. They are Hollywood's highest-paid power couple, pulling in a stunning €130m last year combined.

Despite being worth a cool €225m, Swift keeps it simple when it comes to her backstage requests.

While other stars are known to requests bottles of top shelf booze, Taylor loves to have fried chicken and Diet Coke backstage. The svelte singer is also known for her sweet tooth and her love of Starbucks.

On arriving at the 3Arena from Dublin Airport yesterday, the Shake It Off singer had an iced caramel latte from the coffee chain waiting for her.

Hardcore fans had been queueing at the 3Arena since 5am yesterday in the hopes of getting as close to the stage as possible.

One fan, Zoe Humphries (9) from Dublin, said she couldn't pick a favourite tune.

"I love them all," she told the Herald.

Isabelle Butler (10) and her pal Chloe Browne (7) from Navan made huge banners saying "Dublin is aglow" for the occasion.

"I have every CD, a guitar with her picture on the back and I went to London just to see her in concert," Chloe said.

"I love her because her music makes me want to dance," Chloe added.

Three pals from Cabra in Dublin, Sarah Prior (26), Rachel Dowdall (25) and Jessica Dowdall (20) all donned black tops with Swift's lyrics on them for the concert.
