Mum-of-two Aisling O'Loughlin: 'I'm glad TV3 axed my Life show'
TV3's Aisling O'Loughlin said she's glad her show Life was axed as working on Xpose means she can spend more time with her kids.
The 36-year-old is mum to three-year-old Patrick and Louis, who is almost two, with her partner Nick MacInnes and admitted balancing work and family can be tough work.
"Xpose is great in that it allows me to be a mummy," she told the Diary.
"It means I can work and still get home to have dinner with the kids.
"Sometimes I think it was a blessing in disguise that Life didn't happen because I would have had to dedicate a lot more time to it.
"With the kids being so young, I've been able to spend a lot of time with them which is a blessing," she added.
Aisling is just back at work after taking five weeks parental leave, which she spent in the south of France with her young family.
With Karen Koster returning from maternity leave last week, it means the showbiz team are back together.
"I had a great break, it was such a good decision to go and take the kids to the sun and feel like we got a proper summer holiday," she said.
While she enjoyed her month-long holiday, Aisling admits travelling with children is tough going.
"Travelling with a toddler and a small child is no walk in the park," she said.
"They boys are terrible, it's like bringing wild animals aboard the plane. They don't want to be strapped in and they wanted to be walking around," she added.
However, Aisling says becoming a mum has made her more ambitious.
"It's made me want to up my game, rather than work less," she said.
While her day job involves interviewing movie stars, Aisling said chatting to Hollywood legends with a runny nose isn't very glamorous.
"I'm dying with a cold at the moment and I interviewed Anne Hathaway and Robert DeNiro the other day and as soon as I shook her hand, she turned to her assistant and said, 'can I get some hand sanitiser please?' Right in front of me," Aisling said.
DeNiro has been getting some bad press lately after he walked out of an interview and Aisling admitted everyone was on tenterhooks around the Hollywood legend.
"The junkets can be a bit of a grind and with every question I was trying to formulate in my head; I was worried I was going to piss him off," she said.
"But they were fine, I even got a picture with him which I'm very proud of," she added.
