Leinster star Devin's happy to give up decorating and get back to training
HE only gets a month off for summer but Devin Toner is already pumped about getting stuck in to pre-season training.
The Leinster and Ireland rugby player will begin six weeks of intense workouts and on-pitch practice with his team mates on Monday, ahead of the Heineken Cup winning side's first match in the autumn.
Many of his provincial fellow players have been making the most of time off abroad and although Devin enjoyed a romantic getaway with his other half, culinary queen Mary Scott, to France, he told the Herald he's ready to get back to work on the field.
"We're back in next week so we only get four weeks off, and obviously the lads who didn't go on tour with the Irish squad are back already," he said.
"I'm kind of looking forward to it, Mary's back in work this week so I don't mind.
"It's not actually that bad and we're told that we need to keep things ticking over, do a bit of training ourselves on our time off, so we're not dying when we head back. It's not a complete shock to the system then."
Devin and Mary, who have been dating for more than seven years, bought a love nest in Portobello earlier this year. They are now redecorating their new home and Devin's enjoying picking paints and curtain fabrics.
"We're just getting it all started now, it's exciting but a long process," he said. "We're both big into it though."
While the pair have no plans to get engaged or start a family just yet, Devin said he's delighted for international pal Jonathan Sexton.
Outhalf Jonny and his wife Laura welcomed their first child, baby boy Luca, in June.
"It's a big thing for him obviously, it's great - I'm happy for them," he said.
