If you need a wedding singer, give me a call – Brian
BRIAN KENNEDY may not be ready to take a trip down the aisle just yet.
But the Belfast native says he's more then happy to throw on a pastel three-piece suit and sing at your wedding.
Asked if there was anyone special in his life, Brian responded: "As I always say when anyone asks me that , 'Moving on!' But I will say this: if anyone is getting hitched and wants someone to sing – I could do that," he laughed.
This week, fashion designer and presenter Brendan Courtney told the Herald he plans on heading down to the revamped and super camp matchmaking festival Lisdoonvarna this year.
After 150 years of setting up straight people, the festival has been renamed Lisdoonvarna: The Outing, and will open with a gay weekend.
And Brian says he would love to get an invite, adding: "I hadn't heard about it but I think it's fantastic in this day and age they have a gay matchmaking festival.
"If they want to send me an invite that would be great."
The Put The Message in the Box singer is appearing on tonight's episode of The Hit and is confident listeners will like the track he selected.
"The song has come on a journey; I've been in the industry for 23 years and have 11 albums so I want to make sure it fits with my brood."
But Brian says he found the selection process challenging. "It was very unnatural. Usually you get a huge amount of time to select and listen to a song before you decide to go with it," he said.
"It's felt a bit like speed dating but instead you go home with a song."
Brian will go head-to-head with ex-Voice of Ireland contestant Ryan O'Shaughnessy.
"I think it's brilliant I'm up against Ryan. It shows how far he has come and how well he's doing for himself."
Appearing on The Hit must be reminiscent of his judging days on The Voice?
"It's different. For one thing I am competing in this show not judging. And I don't compare or look back on things. I focus on the moment," he said.
