THE star of Once: The Musical has said she hopes that Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova come to see the Dublin-based show.

This is the first time the Tony award-winning musical will be produced and shown in Ireland.

The show has been extremely popular in London's West End with Ronan Keating recently finishing his run as Guy.

"I would absolutely love if Glen and Marketa came to see the show. I would just to love to talk to them about the incredible reach of their movie," Megan Riordan told the Diary.

The movie was released in 2007 and went on to win an Oscar for Best Original Song for Falling Slowly.

"My friends are all asking me if I'm sick of the song yet but I just absolutely love it," she said. "I really hope I never tire of it and it's my intention to keep it fresh every night of the show."

Tom Parsons will be Guy to Megan's Girl and she says they can't wait to get stuck into rehearsals.

"This is a dream show for me as it combines my love of music and acting. Between the 12 actors, we'll play 30 instruments during the show which is incredible," she said.

The show will run at the Olympia Theatre from July 14 to August 22.
