Talking squirrels, fearless Roman warriors, and a giraffe whose only way to communicate with its equally long-necked buddy is to engage in a game of charades; ah yes, the world according to Eddie Izzard is quite a remarkable place.
Looking a lot less drag queen and a lot more circus ringmaster, the 47-year-old entertainer doesn't care for breaking the ice with pointless anecdotes; he knows what he's here to talk about and that is the Big Guy upstairs hasn't done very well to convince us that a) we're all part of some meticulously arranged plan, and b) He actually exists.
Well, that's what Eddie thinks, anyway. And, for almost two hours, the British comedian takes a bizarre road trip through the many facts and myths surrounding creation and evolution.
Unfortunately, it's not all that funny.
What's worse is that there are several moments when Eddie allows his material to float a little too far from the ground, thus ensuring that both he and his audience completely lose the run of things. For example, a chicken and frog jazz band? What the hell was that all about?
Forgive me for expecting some rip-roaring hilarity from a comedy show, but frankly, I expected better from this one.
