Game on for Aidan Gillen with new role as Xbox villain
Irish actor Aidan Gillen has been unveiled as an evil villain in a new Microsoft video game Quantum Break.
The Love/Hate star will join X-Men actor, Shawn Ashmore (35), and Lord of the Rings' Dominic Monaghan (38) as the main cast members.
Quantum Break revolves around a fictional American University where a time travel experiment causes time to start breaking down.
Gillen (47) plays Paul Serene, founder of Monarch Solutions, who has the ability to see into the future to decide what choices to make in the future.
Ashmore and Monaghan play brothers Jack and William Joyce, who are ruthlessly pursued by the evil Serene.
The much-anticipated game blends third-person shooter and time manipulation with live-action digital episodes that further the game's story of time manipulation.
Quantum Break will be released on April 5 of next year following delays since it was originally announced at the Xbox One reveal event in 2013.
Aidan Gillen will be all over the big screens for the next two years with a host of films already on the way.
The Game of Thrones actor is now starring in You're Too Ugly, a film by Irish director Mark Noonan (33).
Gillen plays Will, a man recently released from prison to care for his young niece, Stacey, following her mother's death.
You're Too Ugly tells the tale of the developing relationship between the two in the face of discrimination in small-town rural Ireland.
Gillen will also play the villain in the second instalment of the Maze Runner trilogy. The Scorch Trials is a dystopian science fiction action thriller directed by Wes Ball (29).
Gillen is filming scenes for Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur. That movie is directed by Guy Richie (46), who is best known for the gangster movie Snatch.
The film is scheduled to hit our screens next July.
