Watch out, Gollum is setting up home in the city
LORD of the Rings fans, brace yourselves -- Gollum is coming to town.
Actor Andy Serkis, who voiced the computer-animated villain, has descended on the capital to begin filming his latest flick Superhero.
Serkis has been linked to a number of high-profile projects over the next year, including The Hobbit, but will be taking up residence on our shores in the meantime.
Based on the book Death Of A Superhero by Anthony McCarten, the talented thespian may have yet another hit on his hands.
The story revolves around a terminally ill teenager Donald Clarke, who craves sex and adventure, but faces several obstacles including the fact that he only has months to live.
As a form of escape, the imaginative teen retreats from the harsh realities of his life to his own comic book adventures.
His illustrious creations feature the indestructible Miraculousman fighting a never-ending battle against his arch nemesis, the mad scientist only known as The Glove. Donald has been shipped to various different psychologists, but after meeting Dr Adrian King, aka Dr Death -- played by Serkis -- the pair develop a bond.
The project is a collaboration between Irish production company Grand Pictures and Germany's Bavaria Pictures and is being co-funded by the Irish Film Board and a number of German donors.
