Pierce Brosnan is stopped at airport security with 10-inch knife in bag
Pierce Brosnan ran into a spot of bother passing through airport security when his 10-inch hunting knife was seized by officials.
The 62-year-old, best known for playing James Bond, was travelling through Burlington International Airport in Vermont with his 14-year-old son, Paris, when he was stopped.
Transport Security Administration (TSA) agents became concerned with the contents of Brosnan's hand luggage during a routine security screening.
A TSA officer took Brosnan to one side to discuss the matter privately with him.
According to onlookers, Brosnan, from Navan, Co Meath, seemed irritated and embarrassed.
He reportedly turned to his son and said: "I can't believe this is happening."
In images apparently showing the incident on Sunday, Brosnan is seen removing his belt in the security area and speaking with staff.
It is not known if he was booked for a violation.
Brosnan recently finished filming the thriller IT in Dublin.
In it, he plays book publisher Mike Ryan whose life is turned upside down when a disgruntled IT consultant threatens his family and his business.
The film also stars Anna Friel and Disney actress Stefanie Scott and is co-produced by Brosnan's production company Irish DreamTime.
It is being directed by John Moore and is scheduled to hit cinema screens here early next year.
Brosnan is returning to Los Angeles where he will celebrate his 14th wedding anniversary with his wife, former journalist Keely Shaye Brosnan.
The couple wed in 2001 and Keely Shaye posted a picture of the couple on her Instagram account along with the caption: "Happy anniversary my love. You make my world."
Brosnan was previously married to Cassandra Harris, who died aged 43 of cancer in 1991.
