Owen Wilson: I was starstruck by Pierce Brosnan
Hollywood star Owen Wilson admitted he was a bit star struck when Pierce Brosnan arrived on the set of their new movie.
The pair are currently starring in thriller No Escape opposite Lake Bell.
The movie tells the story of a businessman and his family attempting to escape a foreign country in the midst of a coup.
"When he came on set in Chiang Mai in Thailand it was exciting because you can't help but think 'James Bond is walking around'," he said.
"Even in New York, I was walking down the street with Pierce and we went to get something to eat and seeing the reaction that people have is incredible.
"When you play James Bond you occupy a space in people's consciousness and it's funny to see how people react," he added to Anton Savage on Today FM.
While the Navan man has lots of fans Stateside, he was also incredibly popular in Thailand.
"I did have a little bit of a Thai following, but when Pierce showed up, it was nothing compared to that," Owen said.
Despite some negative reviews, the thriller, which had a budget of just €4.5m, did well at the US Box Office last weekend, pulling in €7.4m.
While his star status is thanks to his 007 role, Pierce recently admitted he was in line to play Batman in Tim Burton's 1989 movie but turned down the role because he was "naive".
"I was kind of hesitant about the whole thing. I couldn't quite get my head around it," Brosnan said.
"I knew it was Batman but I just didn't think that was going to fly. I was silly."
The 62-year-old will next be on the silver screen in thriller I.T which he shot in Dublin.
