The trailer for the Carlow native's latest flick The Way Back, has only been out for a matter of days and is already generating Oscar buzz.

And the pretty blonde (16) once again shows off her acting chops in the upcoming action-adventure movie, alongside some of Hollywood's biggest names.

The Way Back tells the true story of seven multi-national prisoners who escape from a Siberian labour camp in 1940.

Saoirse plays a young Polish girl who comes across the escapees and joins them on their 4,000 mile odyssey to India. And she is in good company for the highly anticipated movie, working alongside is Castleknock native Colin Farrell, veteran actor Ed Harris and Boondock Saints star Jim Sturgess.

The plot is based on the book The Long Walk, a ghostwritten memoir by Slawomir Rawicz, a Polish soldier recounting the incredible story.

It is now being tipped to take home gold at the 2011 Academy Awards, thanks to the stellar cast and visionary director Peter Weir.

Although the movie has remained relatively under the radar since filming, it has already caught the attention of the industry.

But at the tender age of 16, the starlet is no stranger to recognition from the Academy.

She was previously nominated for one of the coveted statues for her 2007 role in Atonement, alongside Keira Knightley, when she was elevated to A-list status.

Her diverse acting roles have since made Saoirse a force to be reckoned with, and one of Ireland's most successful movie exports.

Most recently, she received an IFTA for Best Actress for her role as Susie Salmon, the victim of a rapist and serial killer, in The Lovely Bones, and she is in the middle of filming Violet and Daisy alongside Alexis Bledel.

She was recently invited to join the elite list of Oscar voters in Los Angeles.
