Michael Fassbender in talks for The Snowman

Michael Fassbender has been tipped to play detective Harry Hole in the big screen adaptation of Jo Nesbo's best-selling thriller The Snowman.

In the famous book, Hole is a maverick Norwegian cop investigating a serial killer who always leaves a snowman near the scene of his murders.

It has been reported the film will be directed by Tomas Alfredson, best known for helming Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

Hollywood icon Martin Scorcsese is also believed to have signed on as executive producer.

The 38-year-old (above) is currently on the silver screen in the most recent adaptation of Macbeth and has been garnering rave reviews for his turn as Steve Jobs in the upcoming biopic.
