Fassbender tipped for Oscar glory
IRISH actor Michael Fassbender has been tipped to win two Oscar nominations next year – by respected movie bible, Total Film.
Movie experts have predicted that 2014 will be the Year of the Fass in the latest edition of the monthly magazine.
The gifted Kerry-born actor has already impressed critics and cinema audiences for past starring performances in films such as Hunger, Inglorious Basterds, Shame and Prometheus.
But the 36-year-old has yet to earn an Oscar nod for his past leading roles.
However, Total Film writers believe two of his upcoming films, The Counsellor and 12 Years A Slave, will turn out to be serious award-season contenders.
The Counsellor, directed by Ridley Scott, will see Fassbender play a lawyer who slowly descends into the dark world of drug trafficking.
The IFTA-winning actor has also teamed up for the third time with Hunger and Shame director Steve McQueen for 12 Years A Slave' which is set in pre-Civil War America.
Reflecting on the Irish actor's chances, the magazine states: "Whether it's third-time lucky with McQueen, or second time around with Ridley Scott, the omens are good for success in 2014."
