Domhnall Gleeson: Star Wars might not be satisfied with new movie
Working with a Hollywood heavyweight like Leonardo DiCaprio is every actor's dream, and Domhnall Gleeson said he didn't disappoint.
The pair star in upcoming western The Revenant, which is set in the 1820s and tells the story of Hugh Glass (DiCaprio) a man who gets left behind by his hunting team after surviving a brutal bear attack.
It also stars Tom Hardy and Will Poulter and will hit the big screen here in January.
"Leonardo is a brilliant actor. Because he's one of the most famous people in the world, people talk about that," he said.
"But it would be silly to forget the fact that he's fabulous and brilliant as an actor."
The Malahide native told InStyle the cast became close when they were filming in freezing conditions in Canada.
"It was great to watch Leo, especially with the extreme circumstances that we were all in," he said.
"It was the nature of the shoot. We were out in really cold temperatures and a pretty unforgiving landscape.
"It was the way everybody wanted to be, so we would struggle.
"You need to be really tied to people to get through that, and that's what our group became."
In December we'll see the 31-year-old play General Hux in the new Star Wars film, but he's not sure "if fans will be entirely satisfied" with it.
"That's the bitter truth. We put our heart and soul into it. I saw how hard everybody was working on it. I think it's got a shot," he said.
Meanwhile, Domhnall's dad Brendan is said to have signed on to play Michael Fassbender's father in the adaptation of top video game Assassin's Creed.
The pair previously worked together on Trespass Against Us, about a man who wants to get away from his family's criminal lifestyle in the UK.
