'Colin Farrell was just a joy to work with', says world's greatest extra Jesse Heiman
HE has worked with Hollywood's bold and beautiful, but the "world's greatest movie extra" Jesse Heiman, says Castleknock native Colin Farrell knocks them all out of the park.
Heiman has appeared in 75 films and TV shows including Spiderman, Glee and The Social Network.
He worked with Farrell in 2002 film Phone Booth and described him as a "total gentleman".
"He was so friendly and very grounded," Heiman told the Herald. "He spoke to all the actors."
Sharing the screen with Farrell sounds more enjoyable than working with Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow, who Heiman appeared alongside in 2003 film View from the Top.
"She spent four hours getting her hair done," he said. "All the other actors were just waiting around for four hours
"A lot of people treat extras like they are cattle or sheep. Colin never did that - he was a total gentleman. And he made everyone feel at ease on set."
Heiman was in Dublin yesterday to launch Meteor's new loyalty programme, Meteor Extras.
"It's my first time here but I love it," he said.
The Boston native said he would love to work with Irish actresses Saoirse Ronan and Olivia Wilde.
"Being on set with Saoirse would be great," he said.
"I would date her in a heartbeat. She's a brilliant actress."
One of Heiman's most recent commercials, for web-hosting company Go Daddy, saw him locking lips with supermodel Bar Rafaeli during the 2013 Super Bowl spot.
"I kissed her for 1,200 seconds," he said. "There were 65 takes. It's a nice way to make a living."
Heiman's speciality is appearing semi-clad in films.
"I've played in a lot of films in my underpants. Somebody has got to do it," he said.
When he's not working on blockbuster films and hit TV series, Heiman likes to hit celebrity hot spots.
Jay Leno sent him to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party where he hobnobbed with A-Listers.
"In LA we have a lot of parties with lots of celebrities and I get to hang out with them," he said.
"In summer we have pool parties, so you get to kick back and watch Leonardo DiCaprio walking about in his Speedos."
Jesse's notoriety as an extra has reached such heights that a documentary has been made about his career titled World's Greatest Extra.
