Benico Del Toro joins Irish director Paddy Breathnach's movie team
Oscar-winning actor Benico Del Toro has teamed up with Irish filmmaker Paddy Breathnach for an upcoming film.
The Puerto Rican actor, who won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in 2001 movie Traffic, is reportedly working as executive producer on the Man About Dog director's latest project, Viva.
According to industry site Deadline, Del Toro has joined the production team for the movie, which is written by Adam and Paul's Mark O'Halloran.
Viva, which stars Hector Medina in the lead role, tells the story of a Cuban drag make-up artist called Jesus who dreams about performing on stage, but is torn between chasing his dream and reconnecting with his convict father.
The film is the first time Del Toro (inset, bottom) has worked in a production role of a movie he has not featured in since 2007's film Lovesickness.
Viva - which was filmed in the Cuban capital Havana - made its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado over the weekend and has received positive reviews.
