Wanted... backing boys for Jedward's Eurosong

JEDWARD are looking to the boys to help them land Eurovision victory.

Last year, female backing singers Morgan Deane and Leanne Moore wowed Jedward's fans at Eurovision in Germany and helped them to a top ten finish.

But now the Lucan twins are changing tack -- and are looking to hire some talented male backing singers to help them secure victory this year.

The lads are currently preparing for the upcoming RTE Eurosong competition, and are hopeful of making it to Azerbaijan to lift the Eurovision crown.

Speaking to the Herald, the twins' mentor Linda said she is on the look out for some talented boys next week and she is holding auditions to find the right guys to sing with Jedward.

"This year, I'm on the hunt for male back-up singers. It's so hard to find strong male singers out there, they are a bit scarce to be honest so I am scouting for the right guys now. We have chosen the song that Jedward are going to perform so we need to go straight into rehearsals now.

"Stuart O'Connor, Jedward's tour choreographer, has agreed to start working on the new routine and I'm currently working out a schedule to practise with the boys. They are finished the panto this weekend and the Eurosong show is on February 24, so we don't have that much time to practise," she explained.

Linda added that there were no guarantees that the boys would win this year's Eurosong contest and admitted that no one knows what other acts will be up against Jedward this year.

"They will be up against four other acts and four other mentors and we don't have a clue who will be singing or what songs they have. Obviously it's known that the boys are going for it because of all the publicity but the other acts have been kept completely under wraps."

Linda remained tight-lipped about what type of song they will be singing this year, but Jedward confirmed that they were choosing songs from one of Lady Gaga's top writers RedOne, who has penned such hits as Just Dance, Poker Face and Bad Romance.
