Want to live like Damien? It'll only cost you a cool €3.2m

ON THE MARKET: Damien's Duff home has luxurious modern rooms and a billiard room featuring his football jerseys
Tuesday September 29 2009
DAMIEN DUFF has put his home on the market for €3.2m.
The Ireland and Fulham soccer star has put the high-end house up for sale in the wake of his move from Newcastle to London.
And it's clear to see that, although he's a top Premiership footballer, Duff's taste buds are far more refined than those tackiest of professionals.
The splendid property, Tall Trees, is a tasteful yet decadent property.
Estate agents Sanderson Young describe the five-bed house as a "fabulous home", and one that could sell fast despite the slump suffered by the property market.
Confirming to the Herald that the home remains on the market at its €3.2 guide, estate agents Sanderson Young declined to comment on whether it had received any firm offers.
While his spell at Newcastle has been hampered by injury and a constant change of managers, Ballyboden native Duff (30) managed to live in style in the property which is set within beautiful gardens and grounds of 3.732 acres.
Locally, it's known that Duff's former abode occupies one of the most prestigious sites within the Tranwell Woods area.
Jersey
The property was extensively remodelled and rebuilt by a local developer in 2005. A year later, it was snapped up by Duff who had just transferred from Chelsea to Newcastle.
Inside, the house has a billiard room, cinema, sauna, swimming pool, state-of-the-art kitchen, beautifully plush bedrooms and spacious bathrooms.
The snapshot of Duff's billiard room, or games room, gives us a little peek into Duff's passions.
Taking pride of place in the room are three Ireland jerseys. A Chelsea jersey and two Blackburn Rovers jerseys, both former clubs of Duff's, are also framed although there is no sign of a Newcastle jersey.
What will prove most interesting to Duff's fans is the apparent appearance of a red jersey with the number 16 on the back -- the jersey resembles a Manchester United jersey, and Roy Keane's shirt number when playing for the club was 16.
Wing
There also appears to be a framed Liverpool jersey -- Duff had been expected to join the Merseyside team a number of times throughout his career.
The driveway and courtyard provide parking for many vehicles and there is a triple car garage with electrically operated doors. Above the garage is a self-contained one bedroomed annexe and apartment, ideal for live-in support staff or visitors.
The annexe has an open plan double bedroom, lounge, well-fitted kitchen and a magnificent bathroom with double Jacuzzi bath and wet room.
"The location enjoys good accessibility into the nearby market town of Morpeth, as well as Stannington, Newcastle and the International Airport serving the North East.
"Tall Trees is a very individual house, with a state of the art leisure wing and accommodation which is extremely well proportioned. This is a fabulous home," the estate agent swoons.
Duff made the move from the recently relegated troubled Newcastle last month to London Premiership club Fulham.
The winger has become an instant hit with fans there and is looking ahead to a possible World Cup campaign with Ireland next year in South Africa.
