Irish rugby winger Tommy Bowe has been lined up for reality TV show The Restaurant.

The Ireland and Lions player will be sweating it out in the kitchen as a guest cook aiming to win the approval of the critics later this month.

On Tuesday, the former Monaghan minor Gaelic footballer was confirmed by coach Declan Kidney to take on Scotland on Saturday in the final game in Croke Park.

But earlier in the year, Tommy slaved away in the restaurant kitchen for a full 12 hours, in preparation for the filming of the show.

Tommy (26) is the first rugby player to show off his cooking skills on the RTE series. Other contestants in the new series are Dragons' Den's, Sarah Newman, TG4 weatherman Daithi O Se and TV presenter Lorraine Keane.

The resident critics, who will be delivering their verdicts on Tommy's cuisine on Sunday, March 28, are Tom Doorley and Paolo Tullio. A special guest critic will also appear each week.
