Teacher Jenny talks about going from glamour of Hugh Hefner's mansion to presenting RTE staple
MOVE over Mary Kennedy. Nationwide is set to get a risque makeover when a Playboy bunny co-hosts an episode.
It's probably not what viewers of the wholesome show had in mind when veteran Michael Ryan retired -- but RTE bosses have given a temporary role to teacher-turned-Playboy girl Jenny Dixon.
The Herald can reveal that the Dublin biology teacher has filmed an episode for the conservative RTE show and is hoping the gig will help her land a more permanent role.
Aspiring TV star Jenny (28) spends half her year partying in the Playboy mansion alongside Hugh Hefner and Hollywood A-listers. She has hung out with the likes of Simon Cowell and Taio Cruz but next week we will be seeing a very different side to Miss Dixon, as her students call her.
For the first time Irish viewers will get to see the glamorous teacher doing her day job. The aspiring star, who teaches at a north Dublin all boys secondary school, has recorded a feature about the BT Young Scientist Awards which takes place at the RDS next week.
Speaking to the Herald Jenny admitted she was nervous about going in front of a more mature audience.
"I filmed for RTE Nationwide last week. I was covering the run up to the BT Young Scientist event with Mary Kennedy and I loved it. I was delighted to get a call from RTE Nationwide to come on and talk about it, as I am involved heavily in both BT Young Scientist & Technology event as well as Intel's SciFest competitions.
"I am anxious to have that side of me out there, it's more respectful and more serious. But, of course, science doesn't have to be dull, in fact it's far from it, it's why I love events like this and the students.
"I love the whole creative side to making such a programme too, having been involved in that side of things I can appreciate how hard they all work in putting together a piece."
