Shay Given steps out on his adopted home of Manchester

IRISH goalkeeper Shay Given stepped out in his adopted home of Manchester yesterday to announce details of this year's Fashion Kicks 2010 event on April 13.

Shay is a patron of Macmillan Cancer Support, the beneficiary of the event, and will join his wife Jane to drum up support and publicity over the coming months ahead of the exciting event.

The Republic's goalkeeper has also secured the services of his high-profile pals Westlife, who will also perform at the event.

Guests can also look forward to a celebrity fashion show from Selfridges, a lavish dinner by top chefs Brian Turner and Paul Rankin, and a charity auction.

The event takes place in two marquees in the Lancashire County Cricket Club ground in Manchester and will be compered by much-loved radio DJ Neil Fox.



  • HARCOURT Street hotspot Krystle will launch its new Crash weekly event tonight, with special drinks promotions for all patrons.

Based on the internationally renowned game, Stocks and Shares, the celebrity club will feature special screens showing details of the stock market, with €2 drinks on offer every time the market crashes.

Partygoers will also gain free entry to the venue before midnight when they say the words 'Stocks and Shares'.



  • WITH excitement building over tomorrow afternoon's Six Nation's game between England and Ireland at Twickenham, DTwo nightclub has been busy planning a special Booze & Schmooze event for the venue tomorrow afternoon.

To mark the occasion there will be 11 big screens, indoors and outdoors, with bookings of 10 or more enjoying complimentary platters of food.

Pints of Guinness and bottles of Coors Light will be available for €3 during the match.



  • A select group of media insiders have been invited to attend a special Ros na Run networking lunch next Wednesday.

The event will take place at the Bistro Restaurant, beginning at 12.45pm, with many of the soap's main characters expected to be in attendance, along with show producer Hugh Farley.

Details of Chef's 'sauciest character' will also be announced on the day.



  • The second Inspirations Gig in aid of Barretstown is shaping up to be one of the gigs of the year.

The event, which takes place on Friday, March 5, at The Olympia will see a host of great artists including David Gray, Paddy Casey, Mundy, Duckworth Lewis Method, Jape, Villagers, Vengeance & The Panther Queen and many more take to the stage to perform songs by their musical heroes.

Organisers have revealed that some of the highlights of the night will include David Gray performing a track by Bruce Springsteen, Paddy Casey singing Prince and Duckworth Lewis Method doing ELO.

A limited number of tickets are still available at www.ticketmaster.ie and through usual ticketmaster channels priced at €30, which includes a significantly reduced Ticketmaster fee.

All proceeds from the event will go to Barretstown.
