Sean Penn's my role model, says 'actor' Ronan

RONAN Keating has set the bar sky-high by saying he wants to emulate the acting career of Oscar winner Sean Penn.

Keating (35), who split from wife Yvonne Keating last year -- has admitted he is desperate to become a respected actor.

"It's been a slow process but since I was a kid the big screen has enraptured me.

"At the beginning I thought I'd just land those plum parts -- but I didn't have a clue.

"I want drama, I want gritty, I want hardcore.

I love Sean Penn. He's the kind of meaty, solid, honest actor I'd like to be."

The Boyzone singer believes that being the "nice guy who f****d up" will endear him to the public and be an asset as an actor.

"I felt that drop from a great height. I know the ridicule.

Craved

"I have been kicked around in public and by the press.

"I'm a million miles from where I began 20 years ago when I craved credibility, " he said.

"I don't beat myself up on a quest for respect. I've been trying to become an actor for 10 years.

"It's been a slow process but since I was a kid the big screen has enraptured me.

"At the beginning I though I'd just land those plum parts but I didn't have a clue."

Ronan says he currently has an offer for a film in Ireland this which would make his career.

"If it comes off it'll be amazing. I'm not saying I'm good enough but I'm ready. So if someone takes a chance on me, I'll go all the way."

Ronan, who is dating Australian TV producer Storm Ueechtriz -- said his understanding of women has completely changed after the break-up of his marriage when he was linked to one of his backing dancers.

"I was reared a good Catholic boy and a one-woman man and I got married young and has kids.

"But I f****d all that up and made a big mistake.

"Because of that I've learned a lot about women -- how and who they are -- and I've changed."
