RTE's golden girl Kathryn talks sex, booze and why she doesn't believe in God

PRESENTER Kathryn Thomas has opened up about her teen years of boozing, sex and religion.

The Carlow native has revealed that she lost her virginity at 17 and enjoyed her first alcoholic drink at the tender age of 15.

RTE's golden girl, the 33-year-old who is in a long-term relationship with garda boyfriend Enda Waters since 2007, lifted the lid on her personal life and admitted that her first sexual encounter was a letdown.

The telly host said: "I was 17. It was a disappointment. So much so that I didn't go near it again for about another year," the blonde beauty divulged.

Kathryn, who's had a packed schedule since Christmas with Operation Transformation and The Voice, also spoke about her underage drinking.

"I'd say I was maybe 15? Yeah. I don't even really remember ... I remember having pints at 16."

And the broadcaster divulged that she doesn't believe in God. "I don't believe in God ... I find myself, like everybody, praying to something when something goes wrong or when you need something, your family or whoever has health problems. But no, I wouldn't believe in God. I think there's something out there. I don't know what it is."

The chatty personality also revelaed that she thinks the hefty salaries received by some of her Montrose colleagues over the past couple of years were "inexcusable".

"I think a lot of the salaries that were paid out were unjustifiable -- salaries that you couldn't stand over ... I'm not saying if I was ever offered a salary like that at the time and someone said, 'here you go, sign on the dotted line' ... I would have been the first one grabbing the pen.

"I do think they have been reduced, and rightly so. I think it's more transparent now."
