RTE presenter Kenny mourns the death of his mother Connie
RTE presenter Pat Kenny is today grieving following the death of his mother Connie.
RTE bosses have expressed their deepest sympathies to the star at this difficult time.
“The Director General Cathal Goan of RTE would like to express his deepest sympathies and condolences to Pat Kenny and his family at this tragic time,” an RTE spokesperson said today.
The presenter was not on air this morning and is expected to be missing from the airwaves for at least the rest of the |week.
The well known broadcaster has spoken of his mother in the past saying: “We are very close and I can't recall a time we weren't.”
Pat’s father Jim, a former zoo-keeper at Dublin Zoo, passed away in 1982 at the age of 74.
Speaking about his father's long career as senior zookeeper, the broadcaster said he was very proud of the work his father did before his retirement in 1976.
“It was a tough job in those days but he loved it immensely. He loved to talk to people about the animals and he was very popular with the members of the zoo,” he said.
