The football celebrity will be laid to rest at a private ceremony in Wales later this week after being found dead at his Cheshire home last month.
And the well-known wife of former Ireland player Niall Quinn has said her sympathies are with his bereaved wife Louise and his entire family as they face into a bleak Christmas.
"Niall obviously knew him a lot better than me but I sat beside him at Shay Given's wedding and he was lovely, such a lovely man and his wife was gorgeous," she said.
"I just think it's horrendous.
"I don't know how they're going to get through Christmas, let alone the rest of their lives. It's just horrendous. I'm heart-broken for them."
Meanwhile, the glamorous WAG (39) said her entire family will be forsaking their beloved Kildare this year to spend Christmas in Niall's home county of Tipperary.
The well-known model and Pilates teacher has revealed how they won't be carving up the turkey at Eadestown as she and her two children, model Aisling and son Michael head down to Thurles.
"We're going down to Niall's family in Tipperary for the first time because there's loads of them and I'm really looking forward to it.
"There's nieces and nephews and grand-nieces now so I'm looking forward to our first Christmas there," she continued.
"We've never really had a traditional Christmas. The last year we were at home, the year before we were in the UK, we go to different places every year."
A qualified Pilates instructor, she has revealed how she has already been snowed under with bookings from people looking to tone up in the New Year.
"Obviously that's a really busy time for people wanting to get fit after the indulgences of Christmas so there's loads of people booked in for the New Year as well so that will be great," she said.
But despite having an amazing figure herself, Gillian insists she doesn't deny herself any of the usual treats.
"I let myself go every week to be honest with you. It's too hard to stick to a strict diet. If you exercise plenty, you get away with eating a lot more rubbish than if you didn't," she added.
She was out turning on the smiles for the cameras this week as she grappled with both a snow machine and a St Bernard named Benson for the shoot for Dubliner Irish Whiskey, which has just won a US award.
The huge hound is obviously following in the footsteps of his owner, model Tiffany Stanley, who let her dog steal the spotlight for a change in his first-ever photoshoot outside the Celtic Whiskey Store on Dawson Street.
