Pregnancy is keeping me out of kitchen -- Masterchef Mary
MASTERCHEF Ireland champion Mary Carney has announced that she is expecting her first child with husband Mike.
The culinary whizz said she was "looking forward to exciting times ahead" as she confirmed her pregnancy. The baby is due in July.
The Waterford native shared the happy news with fans on her blog this week.
"The reason I have been off air for so long is that I am expecting a baby in July and I'm suffering from the most awful morning sickness, which lasts all blooming day in my case."
Mary (28) took top honours in the country's first MasterChef competition last October.
After winning, she set up her own website marycarney.net to share the recipes she produced on the show and which led her to the final.
She was due to take a year out from her job as a business manager to the chief executive of Eircom to concentrate on her food writing and possibly producing a cookbook.
However, she revealed that her pregnancy had kept her away from the kitchen.
"I've been struggling to keep food down let alone cook it," she added.
