Our Jane proves a big hit with hunky star of The Wire

HOLLYWOOD actor Idris Elba will be jetting into town this weekend -- and could well have his eye on one lucky lady.

The Wire star will make his DJ debut at up-and-coming nightclub Bucks Townhouse this Bank Holiday weekend and it looks like the star is in the market for love.

The Diary can reveal how the hunky actor, who shot to fame playing the role of Stringer Bell in the hit HBO series, has hit it off with Californian beauty Jane Palmer, who just happens to be the marketing manager at the popular Leeson Street venue.

The pair are said to have become friendly when the British-born actor visited Ireland last month.

Idris was here to launch X-Box 360 game Halo Reach alongside Leinster rugby player Jamie Heaslip, RTE star Baz Ashmawy and 98fm DJ Stephen Cooper at the Odeon on Harcourt Street.

"Jane got chatting to Idris at the event and they hit it off immediately," said a club source.

"She stayed in touch with him after that and it's pretty much her doing that he's going to be playing at Buck's on Sunday night.

"There was definitely chemistry between them at the time but Jane wasn't single at the time so she thought no more of it.

"Now that she's unattached everyone's very excited to see what will happen at the weekend," they added.

During his last visit to the capital city, the popular actor gave revellers at the Grafton Street haunt a glimpse of his skills on the decks, joining resident DJ Tommy Stewart for an impromptu session.

The star goes under the name of DJ Driis and released his first single Please Be True last year.

The London-born celeb is expected to arrive in Dublin on Saturday afternoon, ahead of an appearance on RTE's the Saturday Night Show.
