IRISH talent is cleaning up the leading roles in Hollywood as Love/Hate actor Robert Sheehan joins Jonathan Rhys Meyers in a movie hailed as the 'new Twilight'.
The duo have been signed up to the blockbuster film Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones.
Cork-born Jonathan (34) has already made his mark on Hollywood, but the movie could propel Misfits star Robert to international fame.
The silver screen adaptation of Cassandra Clare's hit books will see Robert (24) take on the central part of a vampire named Simon. And the curly-haired actor is already being tipped as the next Robert Pattinson.
Musician Phil Collins' daughter Lily takes on the movie's lead role of Clary Fray, a young woman who discovers that she is a Shadowhunter -- a descendant of half-angel warriors who protect the world from demons.
Laois-born Robert's character plays her boyfriend.
Jonathan will play crazed Shadowhunter Valentine Morgenstern, while Twilight: New Moon's Jamie Campbell Bower is cast as Jace Wayland.
Filming for the movie, which is being directed by the Karate Kid's Harald Zwart, has kicked off in Toronto and the flick will hit cinemas next year. Writer Clare announced the exciting news of Robert's casting and revealed that she wanted him for the role "for ages".
"He's totally cute and adorable and hilarious," she said.
Hot on the heels of Stephanie Meyers Twilight series, there are currently six of Clare's hugely popular books on the market, with a seventh tipped for release in 2013.
