Nuala forecasts spell as chatshow host

WEATHERGIRL Nuala Carey has designs on hosting her own radio chatshow on RTE in the near future.

Nuala, who started out on AA Roadwatch, took up the manager's role for Offaly GAA team Shannonbridge in Celebrity Bainisteoir.

The Dubliner confessed that she wasn't an avid GAA fan and was apprehensive about her time there.

"I would keep an eye on GAA. I don't have any brothers so we wouldn't have been mad into it in the house but I enjoy watching it," she said.

Nuala said she asked for some tips from colleagues in the RTE sports department before taking on the challenge in the GAA club.

"I was very nervous about doing it," she said. "But I had lots of friends offering their help."

And Nuala (31), who joined RTE as a full-time weather presenter in 1999, also revealed that she has designs on furthering her career in RTE.

"I'm full time weather at the moment, but I'm also doing the lotto," she said. "But I do a lot of radio. I love being on with Derek Mooney -- it has a bit of everything, he can be serious and lighthearted. I'm going to be working with him next week.

"I started in radio and I do like to chat -- so I'd love a chatshow. I'd never rule anything out."
