Nikki finds love but soldier beau is away for six months

DJ Nikki Hayes may have found the love of her life -- but he's leaving her for six months.

The budding relationship is about to be put to the ultimate test as army beau Frank Black heads to the Lebanon.

Spin presenter Nikki has revealed that Frank is due to fly out to Lebanon for a six month peace-keeping trip. Speaking to the Diary, Nikki says the time apart will truly test their love.

"Frank has just found out that he has to go to Lebanon for six months with the army, he's going out with the UN for a peace-keeping trip with the army. Honestly, it is hanging over us at the moment; it's going to be tough," she said.

"We have literally been living in each other's pockets. But the way I look at it, if this relationship is worth it then I'll wait for him and I definitely think it's worth it. It's going to be difficult but it's a good way to make sure our relationship is going to work out."

And although Nikki will be left here on her lonesome, she will have someone to keep an eye on Frank as her brother-in-law is travelling on the same mission.

"My sister's new husband is going too, he also works with the army, and they have been together for 11 years, he constantly goes on these trips, so if she can cope on her own here with their three young kids, then I definitely can," Nikki explained.

While Frank is in Lebanon, Nikki says she will be turning her focus back to education and is signing herself up for a course in criminology.

"I did law in college and I've always been interested in criminology. I don't care if I don't even qualify; I just want to do something with my time that interests me.

"I want to keep on working, doing my course and just being so tired that at the end of the day I just fall into bed, it will make things easier."

But once Frank returns Nikki says the pair will be off on a romantic trip.

"As soon as Frank gets back we are going to go to the Caribbean and then go on a cruise around the Cayman Islands, we will have to treat ourselves," she said.
