HOT on the heels of Miss Universe Ireland Rozanna Purcell, there's a new beauty queen hoping to make her name on the international stage in the form of newly crowned Miss Ireland Emma Waldron.
But the Tipperary model (20), who is currently in Mexico, won't be too worried about the competition as Emma (22), from Celbridge, just happens to be one of her best pals.
"I'm good friends with Roz. We just know each other from modelling and being around. She is stunning so if I can be compared to her in any way I'm delighted.
"I was only talking to her the other day and she was wishing me luck. She is an absolute dote and I wish her so well; she deserves everything she gets, she has worked so hard and she is so down-to-earth."
And beautiful 1st Option model Emma, who burst into tears after winning the coveted titled in the D4 Berkeley Hotel on Saturday night, told the Diary she plans on putting their friendship to good use ahead of the Miss World final in China on October 30.
"I'll definitely be ringing her for advice because she has been there and she is very knowledgeable about pageants. She is doing so well."
The Miss Ireland final enjoyed a return to glitzy glory on Saturday night with a huge number of VIPs in attendance, including former B*Witched twins Edele and Keavy Lynch, who wowed onlookers as they made their high energy debut as the Barberellas.
