Miriam targets George for her Saturday Night
Miriam O'Callaghan has revealed she's trying to secure RTE colleague George Lee as one of the first guests on the upcoming chat show Saturday Night with Miriam.
The mum of eight (48) told the Diary she hopes to be the first presenter to nab the Montrose star for a sit-down interview after an eventful year in which he quit as RTE's Economics Editor for a career in politics with Fine Gael which lasted just six months.
Miriam said she's also hoping to get Finance Minister Brian Lenihan (50) in the hotseat to discuss his battle with cancer.
The Prime Time host claims audiences want to see Irish guests and don't rate English or American celebs, but admits it can be difficult to avoid interviewing the same guests as her RTE colleagues.
"George was my first guest on the last series and, my God, how things can change in a year," she said. "I'd love to get him back on this year to discuss what happened and ask him if he has any regrets.
"Brian Lenihan is very high on my wish list as well. I think the most important thing is to find guests who haven't already been on every other show."
The star was speaking last night, when she stepped out to Whelans on Wexford Street to officially launch the Children's First Charity CD, Love Rescue Me, a cover of a U2 single.
