IT'S a very busy time for me right now as I've got a lot going on what with adjusting to being a new dad and heading off to Las Vegas next weekend for my new show, Keith Barry, Hypno-magician, which launches on October 28 and runs right through until November 27.

I'm really excited about it because it's always been a dream of mine to perform in Vegas and to see it come true is an amazing feeling. It will be held at the Planet Hollywood hotel and fingers crossed, it should be a great run.

QUIET

Going back to last weekend, I had a lovely quiet couple of days with my family. My wife, Mairead, and I brought our little girl Breana to introduce her to her grandad for the first time on Saturday and needless to say he absolutely adored her. She had everyone 'oohing' and 'aahing' over her all day and it was a nice, chilled out and fun weekend.

We went back to Dublin on Sunday as I had to get ready to do the Paul O'Grady show. I did a special routine with some new effects and tricks for him and it seemed to have go down really well. I wouldn't say I was nervous so much as excited about doing the show and I spent pretty much the whole day preparing for it.

I caught an early flight over to London then on Monday morning to be there on time for the show. The other guests who appeared on it with me were Mel B and Jackie Collins who I have to say were both a right laugh. Jackie's lovely and we had really good craic on air. The one thing I did find a bit strange was that Mel B kept asking me live on air if I was married, even though she's married herself. I told her

I was and not only that but had a new baby, so that put a stop to that pretty quickly.

Basically for my slot I predicted Monday's headlines live on air. I had sent them a locked box with all the info in it previously and it was pretty much just the sports results, such as that Rooney had scored two goals. And I also predicted the car crash that happened in the Formula One racing as well as that that guy would resign from the Royal Bank of Scotland.

I got back quite late on Monday night and then I was up half the night with my little baby. The joys of fatherhood! But she's definitely worth every minute.

On Tuesday morning I went into Gerry Ryan's studio in RTE and he wasn't expecting me at all so he was quite intrigued by my visit.

I gave him a locked box as well, which I had put together in advance of the Budget and told him to hang on to it until the next day. I outlined where all the cuts would come in and what the Minister would be announcing. Then that evening I stopped in to an event briefly and then it was back home to spend some quality time with my family.

I went back into Gerry again on Wednesday morning and he opened up the locked box live on air. I was out by a few cent here and there, but overall I was extremely accurate. I think I actually left him lost for words, for once!

GLITZ

From there I went off to Abrakebabra restaurant on South Anne's Street, where I launched their new magic meals for kids with Sara Kavanagh. I'm delighted to be involved with the launch because 25c from each kids meal goes towards Childline, which I think is a very worthwhile charity.

From there, it was on to a lunch with Headway which is the national association for acquired brain injuries to prepare for a piece I'm doing on Seoige on Friday.

Yesterday then it was on to the scary stuff as I had to go up to Belfast to get an MRI scan to see just how my leg has come on since my accident last year. Obviously it was a terrifying time for me and I'm so glad to have come through it in one piece. They were even considering amputating my leg at one stage.

Today I'm doing Seoige, so I'm looking forward to seeing Grainne and Sile and congratulating them on the new show. After that, I'll be running around trying to organise the last few bits and pieces before I fly out to Vegas to open up my live show. It's going to be an amazing experience. We'll have the dazzling lights and the outrageous props and all that to make it even more spectacular every night from 9.30pm until 11pm. Of course, I will miss Mairead and Breana while I'm away but they're going to come over and visit for a few weeks so I'll have that to look forward to.

Generally everyone is supportive of what I do. I don't take any notice of people who are critical. There's no point worrying what they think. I'm good at it and I enjoy it, so that's the main thing.
