THE red carpet was rolled out at the Cineworld screen on Parnell Street for the premiere of Peter Jackson's eagerly-awaited movie The Hobbit.
The blockbuster flick, starring Martin Freeman, had its first Irish screening at the northside venue over the weekend.
Leading the troops down the carpet was hunky Irish actor Aidan Turner, of Being Human fame.
Looking smart in a black suit, the curly-haired star couldn't have been more charming as he posed for photographs before the VIP screening. He was joined at the premiere by his sultry girlfriend, stage actress Sarah Greene.
And Aidan admits that he wasn't a Tolkien fanatic prior to getting the part in the big-budget film. "I wasn't one of the avid followers," he said. "In fact, I hadn't read The Hobbit before I met Peter -- which didn't seem to matter -- but I was a big fan of the movies. One of the fantastic things about this job is doing the research and I did tonnes of that, as I'm sure everyone did."
The Clondalkin native looks set for big things after nabbing a role as one of the hobbit's dwarf companions, a character named Kili.
The prequel to the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, the film is expected to take box offices by storm around the world.
Other attendees at the bash included RTE stylist Darren Kennedy, producer Debbie O'Donnell, Norman Pratt and Roisin Tierney-Crowe.
