Speculation was rife that the Mean Girls star would use Celebrity Big Brother -- presented by Kildare man Brian Dowling -- to show her reformed character ahead of her court date next year.
She is facing 245 days in prison after she failed to appear in court in Los Angeles for three misdemeanor charges.
She has been on probation after she was found guilty of stealing a necklace in July 2011.
Taking part in the reality TV show could help with Lohan's hefty legal fees, but sources close to her dismissed the rumours as "completely untrue" and total "nonsense."
Others tipped to be taking part in the show are X Factor's Rylan, jockey Frankie Dettori and Toadie from Neighbours.
While she is known for her wild partying, it appears Lohan wants to start the year on her best behaviour in an attempt to impress the judge who will hear her case. She is not planning to attend any parties or clubs and is even hoping to stay sober on the last night of 2012.
