Kiss returned to Dublin

ROCK band Kiss made a welcome return to Dublin to wow the crowds at the O2, with frontman Gene Simmons popping into celebrity hotspot Lillie's Bordello to party the night away following the sell-out gig on Saturday night.

Home stars were also in abundance, with Xpose presenter Glenda Gilson enjoying a night on the tiles with her new man, Rob McNaughton.

The cast of Shawshank Redemption also arrived to celebrate the success of the hit play that has returned to The Gaiety for the month of May. The stars of the show include a host of top actors such as Broadway star Kevin Anderson who takes the lead as Andy.

Andrea Roche's ex PJ Mansfield was once again back on the social scene when he stepped out to the Grafton Street venue on Saturday night.



  • ICONIC guitarist Slash is set to take to the stage live at Vicar Street on Tuesday, June 29 to coincide with the release of his self-titled album, Slash.

The album features an all-star roster of guest musicians including Ian Astbury, Chris Cornell, Rocco DeLuca, Fergie, Dave Grohl, Myles Kennedy, Kid Rock, Lemmy Kilmeister, Adam Levine of Maroon 5, Duff McKagan, M Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold, Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop, and Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother.

Tickets will go on sale from tomorrow morning at 9am and will retail at €42.40.



  • POPULAR traditional group Dervish are set to release their new album and DVD later this month, when it hits the shelves on Friday, May 21.

To celebrate the release, the group will return to their Sligo roots to play a trad session which will be streamed live online across the world.

The band will gather at the renowned Hargadons Pub in Sligo to play a rousing traditional set and launch their live album From Stage To Stage.

Among the guests expected are Duke Special, Ron Sexsmith, Vasen, Martin Hayes and Denis Cahill and bluegrass mandolin virtuoso Mike Marshall.



  • EXCITEMENT is building ahead of this year's national final of the

Captain's Cup, which will be held in association with Captain Morgan's next week.

The event, which takes place at the Village on Wexford Street will see ten finalists go head-to-head in a battle of brain and brawn to be chosen to represent the Emerald Isle in the Captain's Cup Global Final in South Africa this July.

Music on the night will be provided by Republic of Loose and DJ Steve Cooper, with the festivities kicking off from 7.30pm.
