Ireland's leading magician Keith Barry -- and hundreds of others who took his advice -- were collecting their winnings today after he predicted live on air that Leinster would win by three points.

The Waterford man proved he knew his stuff with a tip.

"I won a few bob alright," he told the Diary.

"I got in there early while the odds were good -- and a lot of other people seem to have as well.

"I got a phone call from Paddy Power saying that I had cost him an absolute fortune this weekend.

"He said he owes somewhere in the region of €200,000 after people put on bets that Leinster would win by three points. He warned me I wasn't to say a word before Wednesday night's Champion's League final," he laughed.

The celebrity magician went on Dublin's 98 last Friday morning, where he advised Morning Crew listeners to get their money on a Leinster win and predicted that they were going to beat Leicester Tigers by three points.

Advice

Keith himself put his bet on at 19-1.

And plenty of others at the station were also counting their cash today after heeding the star's advice. Presenters of the programme, Dermot, Dave and Siobhan, in particular, are said to have made a tidy sum, given that Keith had already made two other correct predictions on the show.

In recent weeks the father of one predicted, live on air, that Norway would win Eurovision and that Shane Lowry would win the Irish Open.

The Diary awaits his tip on Manchester United versus Bar-celona on Wednesday.
