John surprises old pal Trevor at book launch
PUBLISHER Trevor White had a welcome surprise at the launch of his new book, The Dubliner's Diaries, last night when our very own international man of mystery, John Ryan, turned up to show his support.
A rare sight on Dublin's social scene nowadays, Ryan made the journey from his new base of Kinsale in West Cork to be there for his friend on his big night.
The former Blogorrah businessman has been keeping a low profile since the failure of his RTE show This Is Nightlive last year, but is said to be busy working on a new media project, as well as an autobiography.
John (36) recently revealed how he was planning to launch a website called Broadsheet, which he claimed would be a successor to his former satirical website Blogorrah, although there has been no news yet of when it will go live.
Delighted to have his old pal on hand to share in the celebrations last night, Trevor (37) paid a special tribute to Ryan. He also spoke candidly about his love for his partner, Susan Jane Murray, and their seven-month-old son Benjamin.
"I'm unbelievably lucky to have met this incredible person Susan and have her in my life," he explained.
"We actually met through the magazine. She is one of the last people I met through my work, I suppose about six or seven weeks before I handed it over to Michael O'Doherty.
"Michael's done a brilliant job and I'm delighted to see it in the Herald now. For me I'll have to see what comes next. I'm enjoying being a dad."
Among those who attended the event at the Cliff House was broadcaster Tom Dunne.
