It's great to have Pat on board, he's just brilliant, says Norah

Irish TV show The Takeover has been commissioned for a UK version by Channel 4. However, presenter Norah Casey is being replaced by her counterpart on Dragons’ Den in Britain, Hilary Devey.

The holiday continues for footloose and fancy free presenter Norah Casey.

The businesswoman turned broadcaster won't be returning to the airwaves until the end of September.

While Pat Kenny is finalising plans for his new Newstalk show, Norah says she doesn't know much about hers.

"We still don't know what it's going to be and that's probably my fault, because I have four or five ideas that I'd like to pursue," Norah told the Herald.

"We are in pre-production for the Newstalk show but it won't officially begin until the end of September.

"I think it will be on a Sunday, but it's just about sitting down and finalising things," she added.

Norah has spent the summer enjoying some quality time with her son Dara (14)

This weekend she was enjoying spa treatments and some fine dining delicacies in a five-star Kerry hotel this weekend – but a busy schedule is building up for the CEO of Harmonia Publishing in the weeks ahead.

GREAT

The former Newstalk Breakfast host says she is looking forward to welcoming Pat Kenny to the fold.

She thinks Pat's move is a good one for Newstalk and Irish media in general.

"I know Pat and I think he is a brilliant broadcaster, so he is a great addition to the team," said Norah.

"But I also love Sean O'Rourke, so I don't know which one I will tune into now, I will be torn. I think it is a sign that Irish media is becoming more mature because I move between Newstalk and RTE, so there is definitely more freedom for presenters to follow different paths."

The mum-of-one says that Pat will find the "young and energetic" vibe at Newstalk quite different to the Montrose station.

"Because it is a commercial station, I think Newstalk is quite open to ideas and more accepting of change.

"It is a much more open culture and not top heavy with management," she added.

After sojourns to Portugal and the Ritz Carlton resort in Tenerife last month, Norah is spending this weekend being pampered and spoiled alongside Dara and her mum in the five-star Park Hotel in Kenmare, Co Kerry.

LOVELY

The hotel is owned by stars of RTE makeover show At Your Service, Francis and John Brennan, and Norah says the dedicated hoteliers leave no stone unturned when she goes to visit them.

"I love going down there, I haven't been in ages so it will be a lovely way to end the summer with my Dara," Norah said.
