'I'll find a woman when I've lost weight'

DUBLINER Damien Byrne claims he's getting more attention from the fairer sex ever since his stint on hit UK weight loss show The Biggest Loser.

Damien (22) was spurred to sign up for the intense get-fit show after he reached 25st 7lb.

The budding DJ admitted that he was unlucky in love due to his weight but is now more determined than ever to shed the pounds despite his elimination from the programme on Tuesday night.

While Damien remains single, he knows there will be long-term benefits if he keeps to his weight-loss plan. The series was filmed a number of months ago -- and Damien has since lost 75lbs since he first took part.

"I'd rather focus on myself before I look for a relationship but I'm definitely getting more attention," he said. "People say I look different. I know I do. I feel more attractive."

Damien said that he was rocked by cheating claims from fellow contestants after he contracted an illness on the show.

"I was ill from the day of the first weigh in. I was very ill -- I couldn't hold anything down. I was being seen by medics and constantly monitored," he told the Herald.

"I wasn't able to eat and some of the other contestants thought that I was faking it."

Damien was saved at the last minute in the first week but was not so fortunate this week after he only lost 6lbs and incurred a 1lb penalty which brought his overall percentage weight loss to 1.51pc.

But Damien said that the show was only the beginning for him.

"There is still a long way to go. It's only a stepping stone for me," he said.
