I appreciate life more after cancer, says Sile

BROADCASTER Sile Seoige has told how her successful cancer battle made her appreciate things a lot more .

After a difficult year, Sile (32) is bouncing back and fighting fit.

She was diagnosed with thyroid cancer last September, and underwent surgery earlier this year to have her entire thyroid removed. But the beautiful brunette says the testing year has given her a new sense of perspective.

"I'm doing good," she told the Herald. "I feel really good. It's been an eye-opening year but I wouldn't change it for a second. It gave me time to reflect on myself. Getting a shock like that tends to give you a kick and makes you look at your life."

Sile said that she feels fortunate to have her health back. "It's been a blessing really. I feel very good, I feel very fortunate, I'm appreciating things a lot more. It's given me a new perspective."

Sile currently presents the popular Shenanigans With Sile on Newstalk every Saturday. And the bubbly broadcaster says she adores the gig. "I love radio. I really do. I feel like it's my two-hour therapy session on Saturday."

"It's a nice mix, we have the frivolous stuff and the more serious items. I'm happy where I'm at. I've had an interesting year so I'm happy just focusing on radio at the moment," she said.

While Sile loves radio presenting, she's not the biggest fan of the web cam and live streaming.

"I always though the perk of working in radio was not having to think about your clothes or make up.

"But now they've got those web cams which I'm not the biggest fan of," she laughs.
