How I tackled Ron on his love life -- Lisa

GUTSY: Lisa Cannon takes on Cristiano Ronaldo, inset, at the press conference
Friday July 17 2009
Lisa Cannon told how she didn't know anything about football -- so she asked Cristiano Ronaldo about his liaison with Paris Hilton instead.
The Xpose girl created a stir at the Real Madrid press conference when she asked the world's most expensive player about the most talked about tryst in showbiz.
Ms Cannon, who was the only non-sports journalist among 80 other hacks told of her terror at asking Ronaldo about his love life and those notorious short-shorts.
At a press conference in Carton House Hotel yesterday, Cristiano Ronaldo was in a buoyant mood as he fielded questions from the world media, ahead of Monday's clash with Shamrock Rovers. The €94m man appeared to enjoy Ms Cannon's line in questioning and when she asked Ronaldo about his flamboyant lifestyle.
"It was mortifying from my point of view," she said, "but at the end of the day that's what I was sent there to do."
Difficult
"It was a pretty difficult interview because I couldn't ask him any of the questions I really wanted to but I'm glad I did it.
"I did ask him about Paris Hilton. Of course," Lisa told the Herald. Among the other nuggets the former Manchester United star waxed lyrically about was his controversial taste in style.
"Well for me, image is very important, I always try to copy my family, my sisters and my mum, but it is not possible, she is more beautiful than me, but I try," he laughed.
Lisa then asked Ronaldo about his recent encounter with Paris Hilton, and whether his fashionable little shorts that he had been wearing in LA, were a ploy to attract the hotel heiress.
"We like your little shorts, your new shorts that you've been wearing lately. They're going down quite well," continued Lisa.
"They've got your attention, yeah?" Ronaldo replied, sending the room into laughter.
"Well they've certainly got Paris Hilton's attention anyway," she remarked.
"Nah, I don't know," he blushed. "Shorts, yeah, good."
